Injection Technique

Step-by-step subcutaneous injection technique — preparation, site rotation, and the small details that make the dose painless.

Before You Begin

Read through these instructions fully before preparing your medication. If anything looks damaged or if you have questions about your prescribed dose, contact your Impact Health provider before injecting. Always use a clean, clutter-free surface and maintain sterile technique from start to finish.

Supplies Checklist:
  • Prescribed peptide vial stored as directed
  • New insulin syringe (30G–31G) or syringe specified by your provider
  • Alcohol wipes (for vial top and injection site)
  • Sharps container or puncture-safe disposal bag
  • Clean cotton pad or sterile gauze

Step-by-Step Injection Tutorial

1. Prepare

Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water. Gather all supplies and allow refrigerated medication to warm slightly in your hand (never microwave or heat directly).

2. Inspect & Clean

Confirm the vial name, concentration, and expiration date. Wipe the rubber stopper with an alcohol pad and let it air-dry. Inspect the injection site for redness or irritation.

3. Draw Your Dose

Remove the syringe cap, pull back the plunger to your dose, then insert into the vial. Push air in, invert the vial, and slowly draw back until the plunger reaches your prescribed amount.

4. Remove Air Bubbles

Tap the syringe gently so air rises to the top. Push the plunger slightly until a tiny droplet appears. Recap carefully until ready to inject.

5. Inject

Clean the injection site with an alcohol wipe. Pinch a fold of skin, insert the needle at a 45° angle, and depress the plunger slowly. Release the skin before withdrawing the needle.

6. Aftercare

Apply gentle pressure with a sterile pad for a few seconds. Do not rub the area. Dispose of the syringe immediately in a sharps container and note the injection in your tracker.

Subcutaneous Injection Reference

Most peptide therapies are delivered subcutaneously (SubQ) into the fatty layer beneath the skin using a short insulin syringe.

Common Injection Sites:
  • Abdomen (at least two inches away from the navel)
  • Upper outer thigh
  • Upper glute / hip area
  • Back of the upper arm (with assistance)
Technique Tips:
  • Pinch a fold of skin and insert the needle at a 45° angle.
  • Inject steadily until the syringe is empty, then withdraw in one motion.
  • Rotate sites to prevent skin irritation or lipodystrophy.
